Velaris accepts referrals from a wide range of professionals and organisations, including case managers, financial deputies and solicitors involved in Court of Protection–related work, and insurers or litigation teams seeking clarity, containment and demonstrable progress rather than open-ended intervention. We also welcome referrals from private families looking for structured, specialist neuro-rehabilitation, as well as Integrated Care Boards where local services are unable to meet an individual’s level or complexity of need.
Velaris works with a small, carefully selected group of clients at any one time to ensure depth, consistency and meaningful progress, and we do not accept every referral. Prior to taking a case forward, we hold a structured clinical discussion to determine whether the presentation aligns with our specialist neuro-rehabilitation model, whether there is clear potential for benefit within a time-limited, goal-driven programme, and whether the associated risks, complexity and wider system factors can be managed safely and effectively within Velaris. Where Velaris is not the right fit, we are open and transparent and, where appropriate, support signposting to alternative services.
Velaris operates with strictly limited places, a deliberate decision that allows us to maintain senior neuropsychiatric oversight, genuine multidisciplinary integration rather than parallel working, and a high level of responsiveness to emerging risk and change. This approach also ensures robust outcome measurement and high-quality reporting. Once capacity is reached, new referrals are paused until places become available.

We offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute discussion with a senior clinician to explore the client’s current presentation and associated risks, what has and has not been effective to date, and whether Velaris is likely to add meaningful value. This conversation is not an assessment and does not guarantee acceptance; its purpose is to ensure that only appropriate clients are considered for entry into the programme.
